Following the success of online casinos software firm Playtech, which recently made its board millions when it went public last month, comes news that its usually invisible board of directors are anonymous no more. Instead the launch has helped the online casinos industry put faces to the names of some of the firm’s most influential executives. The board boasts extensive experience in several key aspects of the online casinos industry, and industry insiders have been quick to study their profiles.
The board’s chairman, Roger Withers, has over 30 years of experience in the leisure and gaming industries. In 1973, he joined sports betting firm Ladbrokes where he first began his involvement with online casinos. Since then his career in the online casinos industry has gone from strength to strength. Similarly, Chief Executive Officer Avigur Zmora also established a career in gaming before joining Playtech in 2002. Zmora was headhunted by Playtech’s founder Teddy Sagi after proving himself at New Age Ventures Ltd in Tel Aviv. A qualified accountant, Zmora has brought valuable expertise to his role with the online casinos software provider.
Playtech has also revealed the man behind the bid to put the online casinos company firmly on the Asian map. Thomas Hall, the company’s Business Development Director, is based in Asia where he currently oversees the growth and development of Playtech’s interests in the region. Before joining the company in 2002, Hall gained valuable experience for the online casinos industry from his career in banking and financial services in Asia.
